We hopped onto the Shinkansen and headed to Himeji to tour the “White Heron”, in its day one of the most imposing castles in all of Japan. Today it is one of the few remaining castles and a national treasure. Getting there early paid off, we got a personal tour of the castle since we were the only English speakers there at the opening time.
In the afternoon we went to Osaka and walked around Dotembori, a strip of stores and restaurants all doing whatever it takes to grab your attention. We got a little lost on the way there, but a couple of slightly tipsy Japanese businessmen walked us there and even to a restaurant when Nhi asked about Okonomiyaki.
